Space for Kids. It’s Your Mo(nu)ment!

Exhibition
1/10 2020 — 8/11 2020
Karlsplatz
Curators Wolfgang Brunner, Andrea Hubin, Michaela Schmidlechner, Michael Simku, Martin Walkner

The third edition of our exhibition series Space for Kids is dedicated to a very important and topical subject: Together with you, we want to make a hands-on exhibition about monuments. Get inspired by the works of artists Carla Bobadilla, Eduard Freudmann and Zsuzsi Flohr, Jakob Lena Knebl, Martin Krenn and the Pressure Group to Transform the Lueger Statue, Luiza Margan, or Margot Pilz, and think together with us about who has been honored with a monument in the past and who has been forgotten thus far. Which moments in history do we want to or should we remember together? For whom or what would you build a monument? And what would your monument look like?

You can check out the exhibition on your own, with friends, or with your family, and invent or redesign a monument on the spot, become your own monument, or jot down some ideas about new street names or squares. On Saturdays and during the autumn break, you can take part in one of the many workshops!

Space for Kids is an interactive, continuously evolving exhibition format – designed by the education team of Kunsthalle Wien together with children for children as well as grown-ups. It promotes participation in the realm of arts and presents contemporary artistic positions, which encourage us to embark on critical explorations. At the same time, we would like to strengthen an awareness for racism, discrimination, and colonial pasts and stimulate greater diversity through artistic redesign, creative additions, or new stagings.

This year’s edition of Space for Kids is conceived and realized in cooperation with ZARA Training (Civil Courage & Anti-Racism Work) and suited for children from 6 years.

Free admission for children and adults!
